Street Fighter Arcade Game – The History
Launched in 1987 by Capcom, the Japanese gaming giant Street Fighter revolutionised the arcade scene, birthing a new genre of fighting games and inspiring countless sequels. Initially introduced as a side-scrolling combat game where players controlled martial artists Ryu or Ken to defeat opponents, it evolved significantly with Street Fighter II: The World Warrior in 1991, introducing player-versus-player fights, a diverse cast of characters, and complex special moves through precise control inputs, enriching gameplay depth. This Street Fighter arcade game series not only stood the test of time across various gaming platforms but also led the way for franchises like Mortal Kombat and Soulcalibur.
